Gratitude!

Well, I've stared at this white empty screen so long, the image is burned into my brain. I can't believe I don't know what to write! I'm an author -- or as Randy Ingermanson said, I'm an award-winning author -- I should be able to pen something eloquent!

Winning an award is something I just didn't expect to ever do. After all, it was enough just to be published. I would not have sold or been awarded any kind of recognition if not for the many people who supported, encouraged and helped me along the way. And so I share this win with all of you. I thank God for showing me He has His hand in all that I accomplish and for helping me to persevere when all I wanted to do was quit.

I truly believe God has a sense of humour. As my husband and I were lounging by the hotel pool last weekend, I told him I truly wished God would send me an email telling me what to do. I work full time and have a family and sometimes there just isn't room for writing. So I struggle not only with the usual self-doubts but also with whether to put writing away for now or keep pressing onward. When we got home from the hotel and I checked my e-mail, it was full of congratulatory messages about my win. It wasn't quite from God, but close enough. I laughed through my tears!

I'm grateful to those who voted for Mix and Match and thankful that you cheered so loud I was able to hear it here in Canada! I'm grateful that readers are enjoying the anthology and that it is touching lives. I so appreciate the talented authors in the collection (Kristin Billerbeck also won an award for her novella!), and those on the many writing lists I belong to, who help me whenever I call.

I'd be especially grateful if you would buy my next book (STRINGS OF THE HEART)! Christmas is fast approaching so maybe you could buy a few copies and give them as gifts. LOL!

If you're a writer or know one, thank them today for persevering through all the heartache, rejection and struggles to create something others will love!

I would be remiss if I didn’t end this with an exhortation to you to chase your dreams. No matter what they are. It may seem like a million miles away, but you can’t get any closer just sitting around wishing for it. There’s an ancient Asian proverb that says something like a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. What will you do today to start your quest?

God bless you and thanks for dropping by!
